As a tree of memory and life, the chestnut tree is an essential key to understand the local identity and decrypt the Boutières’ landscape. The chestnut nutritious qualities are so great that during a long time the chestnut tree’s name was “the bread tree”.
Today the production uses an historical know-how and keep a renown established thanks to the AOP Chestnut of Ardèche, the first french department producing chestnuts.

In the heart of the Natural Regional Park of Ardèche’s Mounts, in Saint-Pierreville village, the Chestnut Tree House greets you to discover the chestnut on 3 exhibition levels. Telling the history of a privileged relationship between Ardèche’s men and their “bread tree”, the Chestnut Tree House explains and shows you multiple uses of chestnut trees in our region like food, money and material.

Discover a large range of local and gourmet products which allows you to take with you a piece of this local jewel, the Castanea Sativa (chestnut creams, blueberry products, flour without gluten, jams, honey…)
