There are 3,500 km of watercourses classified as 1st category (trout watercourses) throughout the department and immersed in wild nature, which are ready to receive the visit of some 22,000 trout fishing enthusiasts!

Fish categories and “no kill”

The Ardèche Hautes Vallées is full of secret rivers that will delight amateur and confirmed fishermen. Many rivers of 1st and 2nd categories are available to you. There is something for everyone, from running and cool waters where you can find the famous Fario trout to other species (minnow, sculpin, blageon, loche franche, southern barbeau…) and quieter and wider waters for spotting carp, sandstone, roach, hair, bream…

The routes are recognized by the regulations as no-kill (no-kill) fishing routes.

  • All fish caught must be returned to the water with the greatest care.
  • Hooks without barbs are mandatory and the use of the dip net recommended.

Here is the beautiful catch of a pike by Thibauld, a young fisherman of 14 years.

Of course it was put back in the water.

Notice to the amateurs…
