Shout “Régis” in the streets of villages or hamlets on the plateau of Ardèche, half the men will turn around! Saint-Régis, walker of God, his name became a first name: Jean-François Régis, saint patron saint of lace-makers, was the very popular Apostle of Velay and Vivarais.
Taking the path of Saint-Régis is taking the path of discovery, of oneself, of a resourceful nature and of a unique heritage. Starting on this path means crossing territories as varied as soothing. It is a return to the essential in the heart of beautiful landscapes in a setting of mountains, plateaus, springs and volcanoes.
The GR 430 is a 200 km loop from Le Puy-en-Velay or Lalouvesc, through the Ardèche Hautes Vallées: Mars, Saint-Agrève, Devesset and Rocheupaule in the footsteps of Saint-Jean-François Régis. So prepare your backpacks for a 9-day itinerary.
To start, you can venture out on the 20 km of the GR crossing the Haute Ardèche. Mount Chiniac, located at the edge of the plateau and valleys offers an exceptional panorama of the Ardèche Mountains and the Alps on a clear day. At the Lake of Devesset you will enjoy a remarkable fauna and flora.
