Ardèche Hautes Vallées is full of outdoor leisures to enjoy with your family. Here are some of them that we have tested for you!
To start our day, let’s go to the Suc of Eyre Farm to go on a ride with donkeys. Dominique welcomes us with Clarine and Pépita, our companions for the day. After receiving advice on how to lead and take care of our new friends, we are off.
The ride is done to the rythm of the donkeys, time for us to observe the natural environment, to greet the cows that we meet and to marvel at this myserious and bewitching scenery.
We arrive to the Rocher de Brion that day hidden under a mist that makes the place even more magical. After a picnic break with the farm’s local products, we go on the intrepretation path around the site. It teaches us more about the curiosities of this basaltic dyke.
In the afternoon we say goodbye to the donkeys and we get on our bikes to venture on the Dolce Via! The sky has cleared and we decide to conquer the section Le Cheylard – St-Agrève that transports us from the valley to the plateau in 24 km. We don’t regret this choice: the change of scenery is breathtaking, from remarkable works of art to grandiose panoramas. We also enjoy a great view on the majestic grand Castle of Rochebonne overlooking the valley.
As we approach Saint-Agrève we take a breath of fresh air and we enjoy the great green spaces. For families who are hestitant because of the slightly higher altitude difference on this section, you can make the journey in the opposite direction and the Dolce Via shuttle will take you back to the departure point with your bikes!
To end the day smoothly, we exchange our bikes for fishing rods at the Lake Véron. This superb trout fishing site is nestled in a beautiful natural setting facing the Mount Chiniac in St-Agrève.
For 15€ we have all the material provided (rods, spears, baits) and advice to get to our fishing initiation in autonomy. We can catch up to 4 fishes and leave with them to enjoy them for dinner. We quickly get into the game waiting patiently for “Lady Fario” to take the bait!
The base also has 4 typical chalets completely renovated inside. Perfect accomodations to spend a quiet night and extend this moment near the water!
Our day ends here. It’s a more than assessment for the great adventure full of fun activites suitable for the whole family! And this only a glimpse of all the experiences to live in Ardèche Hautes Vallées…
